Bitch, This Ain’t No Cutscene!

I don’t know how many gamer readers we have out there… Oh wait, yeah I do. But this is very entertaining. I almost said hilarious, but I’m not sure if that’s the right word. For me, this video brought back fond memories of RE4 and how awesome it was.

Which reminds me: whiles we were in Cedar Rapids, I had a little time to hangout with the CR gang minus Ben and Bill. It was a little strange being around a group of people who all have known eachother for quite some time, BUT since they are all awesome, it wasn’t a problem. Good times were had; Tim reminded me of our own short little RE4 story.

This was last year, Evan and I were drunk (I can’t remember if Emma was there). I was playing RE4 and they were watching, because it’s so awesome. AWEsome. aweSOME. Then I killed El Giganté in one shot (or was it two) shots. Evan gave me the biggest high five ever, but that’s wasn’t enough for me. I had to call up Tim in CR to tell him of my incredible feat. And I did, and he remember. Daw.

So as you may know, Katie, Emma and I are taking a digital illustration class. While it is proving to be very helpful learning the ins and outs of photoshop and illustrator, the assignments aren’t that exciting. I’m sure it will pick up the more I get aquainted with the programs. Above is a work-in-progress image of a three panel narrative. In class we chose three different characters that each student had to use in their own narrative. We chose a harpie, a sad monster, and a viking. The trouble is that I feel so limited on the computer, even though the possibilities are endless. I’m a more of a hands-on person because I feel like I have more control over the image. I think I need to start outside the computer more and maybe just use the programs to enhance the image instead of creating the entire image.

In other news, I think I’m going to have a mental breakdown soon. Not only is homework piling up, but it’s getting more difficult for me to feel good about a finished illustration. The last assignment for Illustration 3 I worked on really hard and everyone seemed to think it turned out great. But for some reason I just didn’t feel satisfied with it and I have no idea why. I think I just need to get used to working with this new process that I’m developing. I’ve never really done it before so I hope it just takes some time. I’ll post a picture of it later.

I think I find out if I passed my junior review tomorrow. I’m tired. I can’t wait until this weekend when I can finally sleep in and relax.

seriously.

Dear Lost,

You know your hold over me will only last so long. The day will come, and then POOF, I will no longer succumb to your evil ways. My love will run out for you one day, one day I will realize that you are just using me. You never really loved me, I know, and one day I promise I will just stop watching you.

Until then WHY ARE THERE ONLY TWO MORE EPISODES LEFT?!?!? IT IS SO. SO. NOT FAIR. At least there was a really effing cute bunny in this episode.

Goddamn, I’m gonna enjoy this!

Holy crap, I just got hired at my ultimate minimum wage, short-term, part-time dream job; being a coffee Barista at Java House!

This is especially sweet for me, since I applied in August, and went in a ton of times to no avail. Then out of the blue, several months later, I got an email asking me if I was still interested in the position. Then I got an interview, and 10 minutes ago I got a call telling me I was hired. Sorry if I seem a bit hysterical and toolish, but I am still very excited. I’ve been kind of stressed about having no income recently, since I feel like a mooch 24-7.

Anyway, that’s all that I had to share. Thanks for listening.

Nerd-ocity-AHOY!

Some individuals have claimed that I’m obsessesed with the UK, England, or Jolly’ Ol’ Lundy as some have called it.  I’ll have you know that I am highly offended by these claims!

Is it so unreasonable for a man to study the politics of a nation, while simulatneously loving the television (a touch of Coupling or the Mighty Boosh, anyone?)?  And maybe, while walking to class, he listens to a lovely touch of Belle and Sebastian or perhaps some rockin’ Art Brut?  Maybe, just maybe he trusts the BBC for his news, knowing full well he won’t have easy access to the New York Times.  And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, he’ll pop in a copy of Eddie Izzard’s “Dressed to Kill” after a long day of work.  Is this a goddamned crime?!

Oh wait.  No, no, you were right.  I guess I was and am obsessed with the Isles.  In my face.

BEST ROOMATES FOREVER! is done as far as I’ve heard from Sam.  I’m excited, but even more excited about the next episode, ’cause truth be told, I can’t direct worth a damn (and I hope Sam doesn’t take this the wrong way, but um… he and I sit in the same boat).  So yes, new director, hot, fresh script, and same sassy kids = HOT NEW EPISODE.  And just you wait for season 2, I’ve got so many plot twists coming, you’ll poop yourself.

I’m looking forward to Sam’s party, but Costume work must still be done.  Just a visor and pleather jacket won’t do for an accurate Scott Summers.  In short, I’m gonna be poppin’ ‘roids and lifting weights until I’ve got biceps big as a boy’s head.

I’ll see you guys when I can punch all the way through people’s tummies, singing “God Saves the Queen” while adorning myself in a Union Jack.  Wednesday, Oh Wednesday.

PS. I <3 Sam Fisher.  We go on adventures together.  Stabby, stabby adventures.

Wow, I apologize.

I am honestly ashamed of how little I have posted on shambot. I always felt really bad when I pulled stuff like this on conclave, and consequentially tried to be a regular contributor. I will try to be better in the future.

HOLY CRAP, Halloween, the best holiday of the year, is coming up soon. I have two Halloween parties coming up soon, one the weekend before, and then my amazing Halloween Nerd’s Ball is coming up the weekend after. Tim and I are going as Cyclops and Wolverine from the X-men. At first I couldn’t decide wether to be plainclothes Logan, or Wolverine in an actual X-men suit, so I think I will be plainclothes to one party, and sport the black leather to the other. Also, I realize that that is a level of detail that no one who reads this site needed. Maybe later in the week I will post a picture of the claws that I made. Anyway, I am very psyched that many of you guys are coming down. If you wanna see the official detailed invitation then friend me on facebook, and I will invite you.

Best roommates forever is going well, the gf and I are in the editing room trying to finish it right now, but we got here late, so someone else is using the computer. Here’s hoping that it goes well. Sometime soon, we will hopefully post our new first episode, and the lost pilot that we made first, which was banned from UITV.

flickr much?

oh noes

I certainly don’t. I kinda forgot about it, to be honest, and then was pleased when I found all that free bandwith wanting to be used. So here are some pictures, all of which have been uploaded on facebook already.

Junior reviews came and went. I had Linda (illustration) and Barb (comic) and a woman who didn’t even work at MCAD at my table, which was nice. Since I love Linda and Barb with all my heart and all. Anywho, I don’t remember most of it since I was insanely nervous, but I think it went okay.

Did I mention that I am going to be Hermione Granger for Halloween? I know I did, but TOO BAD. I’m mentioning it again because I am excited and also I found a good Gryffindor scarf at Ragstock for CHEAP. Also I found a good sweater and tie. I was quite excited. Going to Iowa and partying it up Hermione style sounds perfect to me.
In a half hour I am going to take a jaunt over to the “Old Arizona Studio” (never been) and volunteer usher for a fellow CTC employee’s other theatre company. I hope it’s good – I read the script since when I volunteered for them before (tried to find the entry where i wrote about that to no avail).

so yeah. this is my weekend. tomorrow we will watch america’s next top model.

(p.s. thanks to bill for forcing me to post this. GOSH. loljkomgbbqasap)

homework is a female dog.

boopbeep

Lately, I’ve been really bad with working on my homework, meaning I always start it the day before class, but I do get it done. For some reason I can’t seem to focus on homework and I go do something else (read, watch tv, draw). I hope it’s just because last week was insanely busy (i.e. preparing for junior reviews, getting graphic design homework done, and just going to class was a bit of a task this time around). Going to Iowa every weekend, while very fun, is wearing me out. I can’t even imagine how Ben feels after driving all those hours (he won’t let me drive, I think he gets scared when I drive). On the plus side, junior reviews went very well, I’m fairly confident I passed, and my Death and Disease Midterm wasn’t too bad. This week is going to packed with homework, but this weekend I’m going to relax relax relax! Who wants to see The Prestige?

Day 36!!!

I have been in Japan for 36 days now, and I am finally begining to feel like my surrounding are normal. This weekend I went all the way to odaiba, which is this man-made island on the tokyo bay. Everything about odaiba is absolutely ridiculous. All the buildings are very modern architecture, and I’m pretty sure the point of modern Japanese architecture is to look as gaudy as possible. The Fuji Television HQ is definitely the worst offender. However there are plenty of other bizarre buildings that give it a run for it’s money.

In Odaiba i went to a pet store, and let me tell you, it was adorable! There was probably about 50 dogs, and all of them were the tiniest of puppies. However it was kindof sad to see a baby monkey, and a meerkat there. Which I probably wouldn’t have cared as much about if I hadn’t seen Animal Planet’s Meerkat Manor. Which was a totally ridiculous show, basically the Real World but with meerkats. Also, I don’t know if this will catch on in America, but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, dresses their dogs up here. The pet store had an area for clothes, and next door there was a dog costume/clothes store. You could even buy goggles for you dog! Also there is a store in my town that I walk by everyday where all they do is make custom tailored dog clothes. You can get it a soccer jersey for your team. At first I thought it was just a regular pet store, but I looked inside and they were like measuring a dog and they had tons of fabric you could choose from.

Secondly I went to the miraikan (literally looking ahead museum) and met asimo <\a>! I only mention that because before leaving for Japan I said that if I didn’t see one of these I would consider my trip to Japan a failure. I didn’t even know the little robot would be there, but it surprised me! It can do some pretty crazy stuff like run, walk up stairs, balance on one foot, carry stuff, hold your hand and walk with you, but one battery charge lasts about 40 minutes, and I think i missed part of it so I didn’t see it for very long.

ANYWAYS, I heard that ben bill and joel were at my house this and last weekend! WUH WUH WHAT?? My mom was mad at me for leaving my room so messy. I wish I could have been there to hang out with you guys!

Also Tim tells me that you guys have won Pub quiz twice now! Man I wish I could have been there. Also I heard that you guys are no longer able to always get the science questions, LAME! I plan on joining you guys for a few pub quizzes during winter break, and I just realized my 21st is on a sunday of spring break, so we can celebrate it at Pubquiz!

Weekends are not for enjoying. …OR ARE THEY!?

I’ll be the first to say that this weekend seemed more like a week day. What with all the working on Sam and My show, “Best Roomates Forever” and the legionistic forces of homework that I know full well await my return to my simple domicile. But within this dark, dark tunnel of dreary-ness was a BRIGHT SHIMMERING LIGHT!

BEN AND BILL AND JOEL WERE HERE!

And we hung out! We ate delicious thai-dinners! Ben left his leftovers at ma house! I’m gonna eat them!

Steven, Sam and I went to a haunted house. It was funny, the scarriest bits for me were just when we were in dark tunnells that had no light. Go figure, a grown man of 20 and I’m scared of the dark? My mother would cringe, knowing just 3 months ago she asked if she could donate my old night-light. OH mother, how wrong I was to give you the go ahead. Only the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo all aglow could scare away the demons, monsters, and horrors that live inside my closet, beneath the bed, and next to me under the covers. Sadness consumes me.

As I write this, Sam and I are working dilligently (more Sam than me, I’ll admit) on the final edit for the pilot to our show. This process is coming to (I pray to god) a quick conclusion. Oh, lord, please? We’ll hopefully be able to share parts (if not all) relatively soon.

As of late, I’ve been overwhelmed with a feeling of attraction for some of my nostalgic memories of the past. Undoubtely I’ve grown too old and must be put to death. If you can remember the past fondly then certainly you’ve lived far longer than you ought.

And on that note, I hope everyone has a good week!
