In myyyy life (Ive loved you more)

So this is my “whats up with you” post, as of late. Because Im sure all of you are just dying to know. Plus I just need to get a lot of this off of my chest. Since I dont ever see ANYONE anymore… welcome to my newly-acquired reclusive-esque-life.

Edit: (Prepare yourself for a doozy)

Exciting things (not neccessarily in chronological order):
1) Alex and I walked around Macy’s at the Mall when he was here last and did some dreamin’. We like to do that sometimes… GUESS WHAT I FOUND BEN. Martha-things. All of them. I was like a kid in a candy store picking out everything that I wanted to have when I can eventually afford them. Here I am with the faux-bois bath towels! (excuse the ridiculously wide-angle lens of my cell phone… I look like poor unsuspecting Drew Barrymore in the Covergirl commercials… YUK!) You can find the whole faux-bois COLLECTION
here
.

2) I applied for an Assistant’s job (an actual posted job listing) at the Childrens Theatre. Im really nervous because: If I dont get it, Im totally job-less as of June 15th. And if I do get it, I have to figure out how to do SES or possibly even an artist residency program in Maine. Not to mention I will probably just be taking notes at boring development meetings for the rest of my life. I dont know, I think Im just being nervous all-around. Give me a break…

3) I found some awesome new music:
Nicole Atkins and the Sea (heard on The Current, will be doing SxSW this summer, cool.) This music video isnt their best song, but it reminds me a little of Lindsey’s stuff if it were totally cheesy-fied, of course (This here’s a shout-out to my dog Lindsey all the way out there in the New Mizzle, HOWS IT GOIN LINDSEY!?)
Sara Bareilles (i know total girl-music right, almost even a little country, but to heck with it, maybe Im just into that right now WANNA FIGHT) You’ll recognize this one.
Los Campesinos (thanks to Evan, who recommended them to me a loooong-ass time ago in my desperate attempt to find new GOOD music to listen to. i finally looked ‘em up and bought ‘em.) I guess I have to link to a video for this one too, since I linked the last two! MAN YOU GUYS ARE SO LAZY.

Not as exciting/emarassing things:
1) Our internet has been down lately, as most of you know (and when I say our internet, i mean the “linksys” that we’ve been stealing since we moved in in JUNE. totally roxors.) so I have been spending all too much time at Spyhouse stealing their interwebs instead (dont worry, I sometimes purchase a coffee to make up for it). Here is me at one of my many visits. Dont I look happy…?

But soon we will have our own interwebs, being shared with the three boys downstairs (Scott, Chris and Andreas! Our new favorites!) It will probably be named something ridiculous like “LiNDSAy LohaN RoXORRRsz”… get ready to barf.

2) Ive been doing a lot of apartment searching, and I cant find any good one-bedrooms! All I can find are sweet-ass condos and 2-and 3-bedrooms of which I cannot afford! Blast! (Of course, this is probably all in vain anyways because the girls and I still havent really decided what we’re gonna be doing next year. I just love looking at apartments… guilty pleasure… shoot me.

3) Im totally feeling like a bad artist right now. I havent shot anything since probably November, and it seems like everyone around me is getting shows left and right, except me. I know it just takes time, but IM FLUSTRATED MAN. WOULDNT YOU BE if Adriana Rimpel (granted, a very talented photographer and a friend of mine), a current student was showing with Katherine Turczan and Angela Strassheim?!? (Congrats to her, and maybe you’ll come to the opening with me tomorrow night?) But still, I feel as though Im already starting to lose track of what Im doing. I need to get my butt into gear, and believe me I have, but the Minnesota Projects Gallery at MCP didnt give me a show and neither have any of the other galleries Ive sent submissions to yet. Everyone cross their fingers for me.

Wow, I dont want to end this one on a downer, so lets celebrate this gargantuan-post by ending it with an art-joke. This one’s kinda lame I know, but the one I wanted to post has a penis in it, so I was too embarassed to post it in Spyhouse, when everyone’s WATCHING ME!!! SCARY! Ill email it to you all if you want it later…

The correct answer is Ilford Delta Pro 3200 high speed film, of course!! If you had the choice.

Shoutage received! (And those faux towels are MINT. If Minneapolis unthaws, I’ll be puppy-eyeing Joel to revamp his decor. In, like, two shakes of a lamb’s tail.)

I think the Twin Cities have 17 bands playing SxSW: killer! And I thought of Tracy Snelling right away when I saw the music video: http://traceysnelling.com/splash.html
her minitownscapes continue to be freaky…

Good luck Ali; galleries’ll call you soon enough!!
