Blowin’ Up Fo’ Realz!!!

DAMN!

I make my rascally dascally way to the ‘apples for a weekend, what do I see upon my return to my trusty, dusty work desk? A plethora of productive new posts?!  Now that’s gonna make for a lot more pressure for yours truly to “puts up or shuts up” as the old saying goes.  Now, I’m here to puts up, and then get told to shuts up.  Hellz yeah.

So, Sammy, Katie, Emma, Cooper and myself of the state known as IA made our speedy quick way up to the frosty winterlands of Minn, this last weekend to see a concert.  Namely GirlTalk.  I was not intimately familiar with his works prior to leaving.  I had given a listen or two to a mix that my dear Katie had made for me as an “appetizer sampler” of sorts.  Steven had also told me a bit about the act, and his opinion mixed with Katie’s left for what I like to refer to as “mixed messages”.

In this respect, so to was the show.

It was certainly very interesting.  He came out with his laptop, put it on a table, and started mixing, in a very similar manner that our dear Steve Blank does.  He did a bit more sampling, and some interesting slowdown techniques, but in the end of the day, the only thing that really made him distinct in my mind was the fact that he threw confetti in a delightful manner, and stripped while on stage. During the show, people at one point rushed the stage, and the “concert” if you will became much more of a club type scenario.  I was pretty sleepy at this point of the night (12:40) and my back hurt from standing, but all in all it was a good concert.

What made it a GREAT concert was the fact that Dance Band was the opening act.  Now, I hadn’t ever heard of Dance Band before that fateful night.  But let me assure you who don’t know, they’re effin’ awesome.  The musical style reminds me a great deal of the aquabats, in that the lyrical content is quite nerdy, while still rocking to a powerful degree.  The Mcadets are ALL TOO EFFIN’ lucky that they were band for the Black and White ball.  When Ben informed me of this, I nigh doused my drawers in depression.  Sadness filled my every pore.  But then I saw that there was WII.

And I loves me some Wii.

WarioWare has relit the fire in my tummy to get a Wii.  I had lots of fun (and I wish we could have played much more, sorry (mcad)Emma!) racing noses through a dark tunnel so I could collect what I assume are either colored boogies, or scents, and then ramming Joel into pipes and making him go kablooie.  Awesomes.  That and Smash Bros is looming sexily. VERY sexily.

In the IC, our business is given you the business, and let me tell you baby, business is booming.

Sam, Steven and I are now superstar prime time DJs on KRUI, bringing you the “World Tour” from 5-7pm on Monday nights.  If you’re bored, and for some reason hate your own musical choices, trust us and ours at  http://www.kruiradio.org/listen/ !

Meanwhile, Sam and I are keepin’ it real and getting ready for the next season (second episode?!) of BEST ROOMATES FOREVER!  Our premiere is February 14th.  BUHOHS!  HEY SAM! IT’S BUSINESS TIME! Get to the computer, we’s gots a script to write, right now!

That and school.  OH School.  More on that later.  But for now, let me leave you with an adorable image!

KITTIES!
D’awwww!

Yeah, whatever! I dont’ think I can EVER FORGIVE YOU…….

except I am the type that forgives everyone, plus I know your constrictions and what not (namely Minneapples is too hardcore for you guys), so I understand your having to leave early. Someday me and hopefully Evan the Boyf will make it over there to hang out.

OKAY. Emma and I were suspicious of Dance Band when we heard that they were going to be the big act at the BW ball this year too. HOWEVER, seeing them in person made all the difference. And now we love them. And I am so glad that you had the opportunity to bask in their glory as well.

Dude, I tried to look up Dance Band, and I couldn’t find them anywhere…. I almost friended Girl Talk on MySpace so I could message him asking for details… Would the MCADians perhaps know how I could learn more about this delightful musical group?
