Baseball Cards!?!?

Today while pet-sitting at my parent’s house, I decided to look through my books of favorite baseball cards. I don’t think I had opened up the box they were in since the turn of the Millennium. To wet your appetite, here’s an awesome Pepsi contest gameboard I had stashed inside there from the late 90’s. I think the idea was to collect bottle caps with words on them, and when you had built the phrase, you won the prize. Due to the pop-culture theme, the phrases had a shelf life shorter than the Pepsi (burn!).

Baseball cards after the break… I’ve picked out some of my favorites. You can see the rest in Picasa.

In case you ever need to know this…

Alli is quite particular about meals.

I’m thinking about making a refrigerator magnet of this.

More than anything I agonized over whether the ‘A’ should be capitalized

Chance I saw a bumper sticker that made me think of you today.

Panoramania!

If you’ve ever been in any sort of touristy situation with me, than you’ve no doubt been embarrassed by my technique of canvasing the entire area with pictures and not deleting any of them (even the blurry ones). I even partake in the oh-so-nerdy process of take picture -> rotate 30 degrees -> take picture -> rotate 30 degrees -> etc. Well, today all the awkwardness pays off because I’ve finally found a software which turns my pieces of panoramas into panoramas. I went through the last 5 years of panorama-shots this morning and picked out and stitched together the good ones. It’s all extremely automatic, which is awesome. The software is Microsoft Image Composite Editor by Microsoft Research. Free, but Windows Only!

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that’s when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to ‘howl at the moon’ from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn’t have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn’t settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the ‘guns’), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

I would say “at least the Right Wing is getting a sense of humor”…

…however I’m pretty sure most of them don’t really understand what they’re saying. Note that this also makes it pretty hilarious. This should be good next time the “Family/American Values” card gets played.

I don’t generally think it’s good policy to show things that I find on digg to other friends, but I’ll make an exception for this clip.

Google OS?

Not quite, but I think that that’s what Google is moving towards, with it’s new application Google Chrome. Now I’m not normally a techie guy, but I thought the way they introduced the product to the world was pretty cool (see the link above.)

I guarantee you the driving force behind this program is Google’s dissatisfaction with the way current browsers (firefox, ie, etc.) don’t give web apps the same benefits that local apps have. I don’t think it will happen, but Google’s betting that someday iTunes, Word, and maybe even Final Cut Pro will be web apps.

Best News Ever!

kay maybe not quite, but still exciting. The Pixies’ “Doolittle” will be available for Rock Band the week of the 24th. The Whole Album! I had originally planned on getting Guitar Hero when I (eventually) got my 360 but this pretty much swings the pendulum the other way. I can’t imagine any album being more fun in Rock Band than Doolittle. More info here.

In other news, I finished modding my Tobo TV Unit with fans. It’s not much to look at but I figured i’d document my progress nonetheless. The pictures, in all their mediocrity, can be found in my “Cooling a Tobo” Picasa gallery. I think that’s all I’ll do to Tobo, however my AC Adapter has a 1A spec, and the fans and controller only use about 0.4A, so I might put some LED’s in there to light up the drawers when you open them or something like that.
