I wonder what the french word for delicious is. Even though I have all of the internats at my fingertips, I think I will just be content with not knowing the answer.
Anywho, I have decided to become basically Alli’s doppleganger by (1) getting my own blog and (2) going to Stillwater because I was bummed about another trip I had wanted to take this summer getting canceled. ALLI, WATCH OUT. SOON I WILL BECOME SOMEONE’S ASSISTANT AND WORK MY WAY UP.
jk. the really exciting news that i have is (1) candy sharks are not really that delicious and (2) I totally had a weekend gig at FALLON this weekend!!!! This is a huge deal for me, as I have never ever worked at anywhere so fancy before in my life. They took up the WHOLE 24th & 25th floor. There were like 3 different fancy coffee machines AND a free soda fountain. Also I worked there for 22 hours over the course of two days and almost died of exhaustion, but WHO CARES?!?! Hopefully soon you guys will see the fruits of my labor, but until it’s made available to the public I’m too nervous about breakin’ the law to say anything about it.
but forreals. thigns are really coming together for all the shamboteers! I think it’s time for a big fat pat on the back. Although none for joel or bill because they already did that in the form of SWEET SHOES. i hate you guys.
After walking for miles and hours, we decided to get new kicks! We’ve seen a lot of Nike wearing people here and decided to fit in. Unfortunately, we won’t actually get our shoes for another four weeks because they’re being custom made… BUT on the up side, we’ll have freaking custom made shoes.
They’re gonna feature my Summer Youth Programs Catalog I did for Designworks last year, so not so much peen as the image would have you believe, but HOORAY!
I know, I know, I just posted. Twice. I have blog fever, okay??? Let’s drop it.
Have you guys seen these hilarious new Arts PSA’s? I don’t know exactly how I got there. And I guess they’re not particularly new, as they started running in early June, but I just thought that you all should be aware! (That rhymed btw, in a Petrarchan sonnet type of way…)
God, I love these. Especially this one. ESPECIALLY when the two kids yell out in astonishment “JOHANNES BRAHMS?!?!” Gets me every time…
In other news, I am going to have a piece in the MN State Fair! Now, I don’t know about all of you Iowans, or Wisconsin-ites, or Michi-ganders out there, but our state fair is actually kind of a big deal. (Check out the grandstand entertainment for this year yo: 3 Doors Down, Gnarls Barkley, The Black Crowes, THE BACKSTREET BOYS featuring the new pussycat dolls band GIRLICIOUS! and a special presentation of A Prairie Home Companion. This is some serious shit, guys. As you can see. PLUS, Alec Soth always submits a piece to the Fair, so really I could say that I’ve shown in the same exhibition is he. Adorable!
Hey! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, so here’s a music video for that song that Bill just posted!
In other news, I got a job! I’m the Digital Video Capture Assistant at Cine-O-Matic. It’s by the Walker, which means I can pack a lunch to eat in the sculpture garden! BONUS!! Other bonuses include: healthcare, and one week of paid vacation every 6 months. Also, it’s within walking distance of my house, which is awesome. Also, for those of you who don’t know, I got an iPhone! So I periodically upload some photos to my Flickr page.
Hopefully I will post more video stuff. I just need to get myself a little video camera, or people just need to give me stuff to edit. Either or.
I’ve been trying to get myself to paint more, since I haven’t held a brush for about 2 months. I’m still trying to develop this expressive, Clayton Brothers-esque style, but I feel like I need more control. I’m thinking more washes and a lighter touch. Everything feels heavy in this painting.
I was going to call this one “the separation of church and state”, since the Washington Monument somehow ended up on one of the guys’ heads, but I don’t think the pyramid on the other guy’s head says “church”. They’re also very close together, and not separated at all. That just seems like a stupid title for this painting anyway. Can anyone think of something better?
first of all. for those who have not seen it, I got Fit CS2!! Let us hope that CS3 is never something that has to happen. Unless I am buying it. Because I am rich. My car is so frickin’ cute.
So I was thinking about Alli’s blog and blogs in general and i realized that a good 80% of shamboteers probably read blogs other than Shambot (GASP). Do you? Please let me know, I’m on the lookout for good blogs. In return, here are some I read:
Krisatomic’s blog. British illustrator who also has a knack for photography and a very good eye for fashion. I kind of want to be her?
liebemarlene vintage More fashion oriented, this is another supercute girl who I want to be. She has an etsy vintage shop, which is partly what the blog is about, but it’s also got inspiration and what she’s wearing.
simply breakfast this one makes me hungry everytime I point my broswer in its direction. ITS JUST BREAKFAST PICTURES.
door sixteen renovation, lots of sweet furniture, and PUPPIES.
I know I just posted, but I need to direct everyone to the left-hand side of your browser window under where it says “links.” You will see a new one called “dotluv.” That is my very own, brand new blog! No, now shamboo, I am not leaving you all. I just feel the need sometimes to make crazy and frivolous posts on shambot and then refrain because I realize that they are crazy and frivolous, like what color my toe-nails are painted at present. You don’t want to read that, do you?? Well, if you do, you can go to dotluv, and I will not have to subject the rest of you to it… there. ALSO, I have a really great/really sad/really important post there right now that you all, especially if you are artists, have to read. Go there now.
