and around and around and around

discoveries:

+Nesting Notes. I have a wierd obsession with girls who write precious little blogs about their precious little life. Pictures are a neccesity, especially if they are of precious things, too. And if it is of food, bonus points. Thus, Nesting Notes is pretty much my PERFECT blog. Lots of tasty look food, lots of cute things to think about, also she is Australian, and Australian girls are cute!

+Somehow, this shoe that I wanted REALLY BAD once I got my paycheck is already sold out in my size and in that yellow! All the other ones are in stock. Just the yellow is sold out. And I cannot find that same shoe in that same color on ANY OTHER WEBSITE. What the eff, guys. I mean, these ones aren’t bad.. they’re my second choice… but.. but… shiny yellow shoes! Oh the humanity. Tim is a nerd because of star trek, I am a nerd because I care about clothes in a way most people would find a little bit excessive.

+I will now admit that the cheapest rug at Ikea (white, canvasy) may not have been the best purchase. I just spent a couple minutes picking up crumbs that were big enough to be picked up. The other ones get to stay there, happy to be all by their lonesomes. But nice, colorful rugs are expendy, guys! At least, they are at places like Ikea. SIGH.
+Life is good when you’ve got peppermint tea, shortbread, and knock off healthy cereal (oats, almonds, flakes). YUM YUM.

we’ve arrived

Okay guys. I am usually not one to brag (kind of). I am also usually not one to party all night (kind of). However, I am going to break the first one because last night I broke the second one in the CLASSIEST WAY EVER.

so, other than finding a huge(ackman) bay leaf in my chilli, my very first (not counting college visits) college cafeteria experience was pretty choice. Jacob saved his guest pass for meee and we grabbed lunch on tuesday. Fairly good foods, although Nora’s makes a better grilled cheese sammy. Pictures of the conveyor belt are on photobooth. The AWESOME conveyor belt.

So today I saw Rocky Balboa and ate some bad chinese food with my ann arbor boys (sorry minneapolis boys, you are not the only ones) and it was terribly fun. I guess once my brother gets done folding his clothes like a cutie little housewife we are going back over to play some mario party and eat some cookies.

ALSO today my mother bought me copious amounts of clothing (although some of it was for my birthday) including the most amazing pair of shoes that you will most surely die over or hate with a passion. Good luck. Pictures to come.

So in the airport I was waiting in the security line and they called this guy’s name over the intercom that actually made me giggle. GIGGLE. I think it was something like Digglydop, pretty sure it had an iggly in it. I was totally going to write it down, too, but then I didn’t have enough time. Deplessing. It had to be an iggly, though, because I have never heard a name with iggly in it before. I mean, seriously guys, would you giggle at a name like Figglydop? Or Pigglynot? Or something of that manner?

THANK GOD

WORMY

I mean, FINALLY, you know? I have been waiting for YEARS for a place that let me keep Gerald, my prize winning earth worm, without any sort of pet deposit. It is rediculous what some places will have you pay for one little worm. Thank you, mystery park avenue $850 2br apartment, for letting me keep Gerald for free this winter.

Wait.. just.. this winter? Does he have to start paying rent come springtime? Eff, I knew there was a catch.

(yes, my shamby bambies, this is real. This is why I love patrolling craigslist.)

japanamania!!

I have decided that it is not fair that Patrick is the only one who gets to make cool posts about Japan that make people (ahemcoughemmacough) jealous that they are not actually in Japan. So here is my contribution.

Takashi Murakamishoes shoes shoesan ekibenShirasagi-no Mai

i guess i’m really less cool for making these, since I’ve never even been to Japan. Thanks a lot, illustration 3. I’m actually writing this post because I am waiting for a CD of a lot of the work I did this year to burn, because .. guess what? My server is full, YET AGAIN. Gosh. And Compy in all his glory is getting old, tired, full of crap too. So I guess that means it’s time for spring cleaning, yey. Poor Compy. I really need to throw him a birthday.

After I’m done with this Joel and I are TOTALLY going to go back to his place and we are going to make leftover curry and he is going to steam us some rice! I don’t know who else will come, but hopefully it will be tasty. Then we will go to Spyhouse and I think I will purchase either (a) a Mata Hari or (b) a plain old mocha. But I haven’t yet decided.

ok kids. today i had a DELICIOUS day. seriously delicious. Breakfast was fairly normal but tasty with some maple and brown sugar shredded wheat cereal. I am a big cereal fan, so any cereal is good cereal.

then, for lunch, there was a special Monday edition of the CSS Friday luncheon that has become a little tradition. We (being Joel and Johnathon) grabbed Evan and went to Bubble Delight (which is now actually called something else, I think, but I can’t remember) and had their tasty and cheapy vegitarian buffet! YES! Mock duck everywhere, cream cheese wontons falling from the sky. They have my favorite cream cheese wontons I have ever had. Munch munch munch. tasty. They’re the nicest people ever, too.

I had an afternoon mix of tea and pumkin latte powder, pictured here. That’s my most favorite mug there, that is. It’s so effing cute! PINK PLAID.

Dinner, however, was the big event. During Thanksgiving (which was tasty as well) my grandma gave me some of her Everyday Food magazines that she was going to throw away. Yes, perhaps you have heard of this lovely magazine that is under Martha Stewart’s crafty belt. It’s small and very nicely designed and full of recipes. DELICIOUS recipes. So tonight Evan and I took a trip to Lunds and bought everything I needed to make BUTTER HERB SPAGHETTI. Yum. It used whole wheat pasta, which I had never experienced before! It was very good, and I pretty much made everything. I am not usually a cook, so I was proud of myself.

Tonight I will prepare something else from the magazine for breakfast tomorrow that involves oats and pears and grapes. YUM.

Enough about food!

Except I really don’t know what else to talk about! I guess classes are going okay (except for drawing 2, but we knew that already).. and I finished all I’m going to be able to finish for the art sale today (please buy my stuff) and I’m totally ready for Christmas (please buy me stuff!). I got a tiny white tree at Target because this is my first real apartment, and I figured I should decorate it for Christmas. Honestly, I am not a religious person, but Christmas is more of a family thing than, say, a jesus thing to me. I lurv it. I also turn 21 (like this post!) three days after christmas, HURRAH.

okay, enough. Someone teach me how to hide some of the post, please. I’m afraid this will be too long..

big news

I may have told a few of you about this, considering it was the defining moment of my entire life. But for those who do not know, get ready to be ASTOUNDED.

…..On Friday night, last week….

I met….

Bradley Greenwald.

…..what. What? You.. you don’t know who he is? You mean, unlike me, you did not sit through what an educated guess would say 20ish performancse of The Children’s Theatre Company’s production of Aladdin Jr., falling steadily in love with the awsomest version of Jafar you had ever seen? Oh the humanity! You truely missed out, my friend. Not only did this Jafar have TWO musical numbers that he handily rocked (Operatic training, oh yes), but he showed up at the back of the theatre to OUST lame-o Aladdin as a street rat, and in order to show up there he had to walk through the lobby and through the house left doors. So if I was not out in the lobby for the show, I made sure I was on house left. It was glorious. That’s all I can say.

That’s officially the only picture of him as Jafar that I can find, but if you want to know his real face, you can google search his name. A few headshots pop up, but none as glorious as the real thing, which I did glimpse this Friday at the How the Grinch Stole Christmas opening night party (he plays the Grinch, if you’d like to know). Of course, there was absolutely no way I was going to introduce myself, but that is where SUPER CREW GUY comes in. Super Crew Guy and I are homies. Well, not really but once I ushered for another play he was doing for freee. So theater homies, more like it. Anyway, SCG was all “oh yeah, we can just walk over there and I’ll introduce you. Bradley’s that kind of guy” and I was all “oh, okay tehehehehhee”. So we get up there and Bradley is talking to another woman about something SCG knows about, so I stay quiet while my heart PALPITATES FURIOUSLY.

Finally SCG goes “Oh, Bradley, I’d like you to meet my good friend Emma” and we shake hands and Bradley himself is looking at me waiting for some sort of introductory statement, and I had previously been ready to make real honest to god conversation with him – but instead all that comes out is “Uh.. ah.. hi… I usher here? And.. umm… i .. saw you in aladdinandithoughtyouwerereallygood…ahaha…” Oh my god AWKAWRD. It was soooo embarassing. SCG saved the day by introducing a REAL conversation topic and soon we were chatting amicably about the front of house staff taking the stage. It was short and still kind of embarassing, but I can now say I met him.

p.s. Bradley Greenwald is (1) way too old for me, and (2) taken by a (3) man. This I knew aaaages ago. It did not stop my love.

dinosaurs walked the earth

ah yes. Saturday monrings and “Animal Atlas” go together like things that go together. It is one of the most patronizing shows ever. I’m hoping the children recogize the fact that they reuse clips for multiple shows. Hopefully. I honestly do love watching Saturday morning television. Always amusing. If I had cable it would be cartoon network tout les temps.

a lady

Here’s a painting I made for the art sale. Yaaay. I’m too lazy to remove the ugly border.

Evan is making breakfast, although unfortunately it only consists of hashbrowns, since our eggs are at the boys (YOU BETTER NOT EAT THEM) and the only bread we have left is the ends.. which I guess I will toast. DEPLESSING. I want to eat scrambled eggssss.

Now we are watching some sort of fancy food show on PBS. OH the life of me.
