I’m sure the writers of the script are completely knowledgeable of the capability of computers! It’s the director (or possibly test groups) that think these things can actually happen. Or… if someone thinks that if these “cool” things don’t happen the show won’t be interesting enough or something. I want to see a movie/tv show when they only show the limitations of technology.
Detective: “OMG Can you vector in on section C5?”
Video Genius” “Um. Sir that’s not possible, this is a security camera that is like, 180i”
D:” WHAT’S IN THAT RELFECTION? HOW THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CATCH THIS GUY?”
VG: “I don’t know DO YOUR JOB ASSHOLE. Get out there and hunt him down.”
D: “You’re fired!”

I should write cop dramas for a living…
I’m really hoping this technology doesn’t exist yet. Or I’m going to feel super dumb for writing this!
