Hey! As if my last post of greatest week ever wasn’t enough, I got ANOTHER piece of great news in the mail today!
I applied for a national award/scholarship for student engagement and community involvement. Part of my application was a letter of recommendation from our President, Michael O’Keefe, which I was a little nervous about when I had to ask him, but he wrote a glowing letter, and now he and I are pals!
Anyway, the competition was first judged at state level, then the finalists moved onto the national competition, where 4 awards are available. (the award is $1,250 for professional development & $250 for a community organization that you have worked with).
So, the news today is that I was selected as the Minnesota representative, and my application has moved onto the national competition!! AHH! PURE nerves and excitement! I haven’t won anything yet, but this is a really big and exciting step! I will be recognized in front of all MN school Presidents who belong to this organization in June, and I get some free book (hah).
HOLY HELL. I don’t think I could handle any more good news! It takes too much energy!
LOVE YOU ALL. Because, I can’t do amazing things without amazing friends!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!!!
It has been an awesome week. I am counting Friday morning through now to be a week.
Friday was a big $$ win. woot
Saturday was an awesome nothing much day, followed by girls’ night (hey ladies!)
Sunday was awesome and warm, and I drove around town doing errands and re-potting plants in my kitchen (as close as I can get to a garden), and I bought a fish, his name is Seymour.

….Of NYC, I will post too!
Because, lovingly, I am home from the Big Apple. All in all, a very exciting trip, and seeing the Katie too! (and Kara as well). Few if any mishaps, I missed the single rat sighting (by Rhea), and the only bug in our hostel was in her bed. Traversing the subway was a hoot! The first day was a bit of an exercise. Wandering the streets of Harlem with your suitcase after flying since 4am is not really something that I would suggest in the future, but we survived!

It is not a real holiday without a deer head wearing a festive hat. Yes, this is real. I saw it with my own eyes (and phone).
Be safe!
You know, most days, I think I am pretty crazy for being at an art school. And most days, I want to be super successful, and solve all of the world’s problems (notice the order of importance there?).
I am always frustrated with how non-profits are run (and have no money), and yet, I am often working for them.
I think that there is a way to creatively run companies for profit, but with the mission of making positive change in the world. Somehow, art is involved, but I can’t quite decide how.
How do you think art is being used for change? Are you involved? Who is?

seriously. I will go away now.
Hi Shamby…
You know, today has been a pretty interesting day (considering I have barely been off the couch all but 10 mins total). I have to say though, it has been enlightening. (more…)
all the new apple product possibilities. Some are redundant, but at least get to the iPatch!
Hey ya’ll. I just thought I would be a bit self-stroking and share some good news with you all. I have been working out for about the last month with Rhea, and I am really feeling GOOD! I needed to make a change, I have gained soooo much weight since I have been at school here (like, seriously, 30+ lbs), and it was getting to be a problem health-wise.
So, I have been working away, mostly in the school gym, and I am starting to see results!! HURRAH. I don’t know how much I have lost, since I do not have a scale (one is on the way, thanks amazon!) but I will keep you updated with any milestones!
Rhea & I are doing the twin cities fit challenge (look it up for yourself), so we have completed month 1, and have 4 more to go. THEN, I will be UBER-HAWT, way more then even this month. And then, maybe someday, I will never have to endure another picture like the one from the B&WB this year. (I hope).
LOVE to you ALL, since I am in good spirits!
Hi Shamby – sorry I have been distant from your walls. The life of angie leaves something to be desired (namely, shambot-surfing time). To what do you owe this amazing visit? well, yes, Shamby, it is because I am too sick to leave my apartment that I have time to grace you with my presence. Wonderful aint it? Yes, that is right. I am dying of the common cold – sniffling, sneezing, sore throat – pretty much the nyquil commercial. Nyquil what? Yeah, I love you, and am almost out. maybe I should go get some more? who wants to get out of bed? not me. I need some lovely delivery service to bring the following: soup, french bread (don’t ask why, it just sounds good), jello (did I mention sore throat?), nyquil, sudafed, I am really craving starbucks, oh, and someone to finish my homework. Um, yeah, I think that is about it. Oh, or like canned peaches, or applesauce, or other cold and wonderful things that make swallowing not painful.
Anyway, I am going back to sleep now. again.
