oh me

I have a brand new webcomic called “Emma and Froggy do some stuff”! It hasn’t been made yet, but look, I have some art.

Emma looks like me, yes, but she is not me. Anyhow, I kept drawing and redrawing for our most recent assignment. I don’t know why, it was just something I wanted to be perfect, even though it didn’t need to be. Does that ever happen to you? It was a little obsessive, but I’m happy with it now.

All you artists…

Hey ya’ll.  I just heard about this awesome (not really even going yet) art dealer/website.  www.20×200.com

Not only do I think there will be some really neat stuff to come on here, but I bet you guys could send over some samples, and get this woman interested.  I suspect there aren’t a whole lot of people contacting her yet, since it has only been up for like 3 weeks.

YUM

So, today I went to the grocery store and bought some Indian food and it was soooo good. Below is a picture of the result. Featured are Black Gram Lentils Curry from Kitchens of India and Tandoori Rice from Tasty Bite. They are both heat and eat, so it takes all of five minutes and would definitely serve two if you sided it with Naan or something. It looks like barf, but that means it’s good, ask anyone (ie Emma).

BFF John Woods

I just got the “Top Friends” application for FaceBook.

Jonh Woods, I love you.

Neato-cool stuff from my first week back in Chicago

I had intended to post pictures throughout this week of the craziness that is the first week of the last quarter of school EVER (until grad school, so I guess not EVER), but I’m a dummy-face and forgot the USB cable for my camera in L’apples. Sooooo, I went to best buy today and bought a new cable, which means that I can now post oodles of stuff all about me! Me me me me me. Me, too. (Get it? Like Agent Smith??)

The first thing we should probably go over is the Toilet-Ceiling Conflict of 2007. At some point while I was MPLS’n it, water gathered above the ceiling above my toilet, which eventually caused a catastrophic structural failure. I arrived home to find a significant portion of the ceiling that was supposed to be above my toilet was actually in my toilet. The drag of it all was compounded by the fact that I, well, not to be too graphic, but let’s just say I was fast approaching a TBDB situation. Not being able to use my toilet was going to be a major issue if it was not dealt with soon. So, I took a large spoon, rubber gloves and a trash can, and I cleared the debris from that damn toilet bowl just in time. It’s true what Bowie says, “We can be heroes… just for one day.” HERE’S PICTURES!!

In other news, I’m only taking 3 classes this quarter, which is strange and new for me. Usually, I take 4 or 5, which is pretty standard at DePaul. Only taking three classes kinda felt like stealing…. until I went to the mother fucking bookstore.

img_1830.JPG

There are 13 books there. FOR THREE CLASSES. Granted, most of them are fiction for my senior seminar, but still.

Moving on, we have a new arrival to my face. MY NEW GLASSES CAME TODAY AND I LURVE ALL OVER THEM. LOOK AT THIS PICTURE SO YOU CAN LURVE ON THEM TOO!

Gracious sakes, those are fly!

Finally, I have a few pictures of the Finkelstein rally. They are pretty self-explanatory.

And that’s it, kiddos.

???

What’s this?!
What? YEUCK!

sweet time

I just said “sweet time” to Ben (or was it Bill? I can never tell online). I think this is a sign I need to get up to date on my slang. I’m up to date on making art works! Thanks, school. It feels so wierd to be in class with a normal amount of MCAD students in the halls again. I was saying today that I keep thinking I’ll see Chance in the hall. SIGH.

Here’s an art I did with the prompt “17th century” and “knock off” that I combined. SO FUNY. It scanned funny, but it was 5 minutes to proffy practice, so I had to take off. INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.

p.s. can we all call it proffy practice now? I like that nickname.

It’s over

At about 10:30 this morning, my professor, Norman Finkelstein, announced that he had reached a settlement with DePaul University and, as part of that settlement, had agreed to resign, effective immediately. I had a feeling ever since his initial tenure denial in June that he would end up having to leave, but now that it’s officially over, it fucking sucks.

havin’ some fun

I’ve been takin’ it slow lately and procrastinating most of the day. I spent a good portion at school this afternoon working on a few things but not finishing anything. I have to say, I enjoy drawing a lot. I absolutely love to sit and draw things from my imagination and things I see around me. However, some days I just can’t draw. For some reason the synapses in my brain don’t fire correctly and my hand seems to be off a bit. Now, when I can’t draw it’s not like, ‘oh, I can’t beat this part of a videogame, I’ll try later’ or ‘oh, I can’t solve this problem, I’ll figure it out eventually and work on something else in the mean time’, it ends up being a “HOLY FUCKING SHIT, WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?” situation. The event, profane as it may be, is not uncommon to me and most of the time erupts in my mind and I just have to rest my forehead upon my arms and try to relax. Other times, the incredibly awful feeling boils through my veins, forcing me to throw, smash, rip of scribble on whatever is in my hand. Luckily, I’m usually a non-violent person. Usually. There are plenty bent notebooks, ripped drawings, and broken pencils (and hearts) that clutter my workspace (and my mind) throughout the year. But I get through it. Drawing is tough, making art is tough in general. I’m sure a lot of people think we artists get off easy (obviously not on this blog) and breeze through school. For me it’s a constant struggle of figuring out how to get things done, how to get better and faster, and most importantly how to keep my brain thinking of new, creative images and ideas. It’s difficult, but getting away from the pressure of homework is necessary. And how do I do that? By drawing more of course!
Havin' some fun
I’m trying to improve my adobe illustrator skills, shapes and gradients and such. I want to become as good or BETTER than Chris Hajny (Lindsey Nohl’s bf) in illustrator. I smell a challenge.
