My turn

So, I have to remind you that I am no artist or anything like that, but I here by throw my hat into the ring of beer bottle lables. I don’t have a scanner so I just took a picture, but please give me good feedback (or bad feed back… really I’ll take whatever).

Here you go! De-Lightful Beer.

hello all.

Since you all are so interested, of COURSE, I will tell you about my work. It is going well, as you can see:

Ben has been an ever-so-wonderful photographers assistant throughout this project (so thank you to him!), and I was feeling like I was stuck for awhile, but I think I’m getting back on track. FYI: we will be having and Advance Photo Class Exhibition on the second floor, as of today, and probably running through next week. Please take a look at it and tell me what you think (I expect you ALL to make it! (jk)). ALSO, Alex will be around this week for his Spring Break so let’s all hang out!!! Seriously, when do we do that anymore? Here is a picture of an awesome goose, because I am now officially infatuated with them: BUUUUuuuuH?

art attack!

I haven’t posted in a while. Not because I am lazy, but because I’ve been making what feels like an illegal amount of artwork. My drawing class for some reason turned into a painting class (which I’ve never had before), so teaching myself how to do figure/observational painting is taking a lot out of me. Not only because the painting is hard for me, but because the still lifes and homework assignments are boring and uninspired (it’s not 100% the teacher’s fault). Another problem is that half the kids in the class are idiots, but that’s a story for another day. In conclusion, being in that class is an insult to my intelligence. (more…)

Petbusters!

Petbusters didn’t get into Cedar Rapids Film Festival. In the words of Sam, “At least we will always have Cannes.”

OMFGZROFLMAO! (edited)

As you may know (or have acted like you know) we will hear back from Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival tomorrow! HOLY CRAP! Rest assured I will let you know how it goes. But something much more important happened. I just got my first letter back from a college about research, and guess what?! I got it! I might be doing research at Penn State this summer for 4000 boom boom dollars (with an additional 500 added for travel expenses)! The only problem is that i have to get back to them before March 15 a lot of people applied. Which means I might not have heard back from some/most of my other schools by then. Luckily, the schools that I will hear from last are in Michigan which is a totally lame AWESOME state that has onlyone MANY cool things, not the least of which is Shambot’s very own Bill, Lindsey and Emma! As well as other things that Michigan natives have decided to post in the comments. Hooray for learning! Boop Boop!

The inevitable tiredness of midterm season. Is here.

I am so tired lately. I have trouble waking up in the morning, even though I know that I got a good 7 hours of sleep the night before. “What’s up?” I ask myself. I couldn’t figure it out… until today. I calculated how many internship hours I had accomplished as of yet out of curiosity, and its 114. HOURS! And I only need 120. I have 6 weeks left of my internship. What to do…

I guess I’ve been working harder at the studio than I had realized… For instance, today we went (Alec and I) on a sort-of last minute shoot for Jane Magazine/Alec’s own project that he’s working on. We were told that she was a stripper, and that we would go to photograph her in her house in Robbinsdale. Okayyyy… So then Alec googled her, and found out that she’s actually a kinda famous stripper. She wrote a book about being a stripper, and is shooting a television pilot about being a stripper. And she was on David Letterman. AWESOME! Way to tell us about her, Jane. Anywho, here she is on Letterman: (isn’t she totally cute?!)

edit: I dont know where this video went… BARF.

Also, she has a black and white chihuahua named Barnabus… ADORABLE! He skidded around on the hardwood floor (in her surprisingly-really-fancy-expensive-townhome) when I pretended to chase him around the kitchen island. She was totally sweet and later told all of her friends to contact Alec so he could use them as subjects too. When we got back to the studio, they had already filled his inbox with EIGHT emails. EIGHT. Hilarious.

But it was a good day. I think I just need to let up on the interning. I STILL NEED TO PAY THE RENT, MAN!! (And you know, like, shoot a senior project and all…)

LAY-TER PEEPS!

Fuckin Killin For Fun

Guns. I don’t know what it is but I am really fascinated by them. They’re heavy, metal, mechanical, and of course they make loud noises. Am I just a little kid still? I wanna be a cowboy or something? I heard that men like guns because they’re just like metal penises.

In any case, when I was in high school I used to play this game called “Counter Strike.” It was a “mod” for a “game” called “half life.” Two teams fought against eachother, the terrorists and the counter-terrorists. There were different goals like “bomb the train” and “recuse the hostages.”

Dumb story to follow (more…)

Who Procrastinates the Best? ME!

So instead of working on my next video for intermedia, I spent the afternoon making a cover of my favorite At The Drive-In song. And since my voice sucks, I made my mac do the vocals for me by having it read them from a word doc. Hardcore converted to electronica= odd, but fun. My favorite part is the end breakdown and the guitar solo gone midiwild!

oh. my. gosh. thanks to alli leaving a copy of metro magazine i just got a huge dose of my three favorite things: fashion spreads, fantastic vacation spots, and bradley greenwald. There’s an entire article about my favorite not single, too old for me, and gay anyways actor and I pretty much squealed in delight when I saw his mug (well, mugs. they did some funny photoshopping and had him in various place in the image) gracing the pages of metro. There’s also a shoutout to Lost Boys of the Sudan, which I am also excited about. Oh Children’s Theatre. What WILL you do next.

I am using my computer! Yes! You have no idea how good it feels to be able to use your very own compy after a very long break of it just sitting there, closed and off, staring up at you with those sad compy eyes. Unfortunately, I don’t have a charger of my own just yet – this is Alli’s (allison left many-a good thing here tonight!), but it’s good enough. I just had to see my baby again.

Oh, also, I figured everyone was posting Ernie related items on Shambie, so now it’s my turn… even IF bill took this picutre… it was on my camera so I’m claiming it, AHAHAHAHA. There are two other equally adorable pictures that I myself took of Ernie on le fleekr, if you would like to see a bulldog looking away from the camera.

BTW I totally had a dream that I thought I won the Beer Label contest but then I realized that I didn’t because I forgot to submit my design! It hopefully won’t happen in real life…. although first I need my sketchbook back coughcougbillcoughcough.
