Blackwater and Iran

Two things have been weighing heavily on my tiny mind, so I’m going to off load some of it on to you. Besides, someone, while commenting on my first shamby post, said they wanted more news related posts and I live to serve you, gentle reader.

So, first thing. Blackwater USA. These guys are former Navy Seals and otherĀ  old army type guys, who now spend their time killing people for money. No, seriously! They are mercenaries the US and US businesses employ to kill people protect American (oil) interests in Iraq. “Ok,” you say, “but Iraq is a big job and why shouldn’t we hire mercenaries to take up the slack?” Because they are violent and shameless thugs with no regard for human life. I’m not one to speak without providing some evidence, so here’s an article from the NY Times reporting on a recent Congressional report. So basically, these guys are shooting first (they’re contract says they can’t do that), killing civilians (or that), taking offensive action along side the US military (or that), and aren’t always sober when they do all this. By the way, we’ve also paid them over $800 million for their services. Oh yeah, they’re also covering up all these little boo boos (the civilian killing) with the help of the State Department. As much as the regular military shouldn’t be in Iraq, these guys shouldn’t be there x2. In fact, they should probably be in jail.

Next thing. A while ago, the Senate voted to name the Iran’s military a terrorist organization. More recently, I heard that the administration asked the Joint Chiefs or NSA or whatever to update the plans they have for invading Iran. Attacking Iran is maybe the worst idea since… I don’t know… something really bad. It’s even a worse idea than invading Iraq. This would only serve to further destabilize the region and lead to more death and destruction than has been seen in a very long time. We can’t even keep Iraq from disintegrating into a total cluster fuck and now they want to add Iran on top of that! This is not to mention the fact that it further impeaches our international credibility and is a major violation of international law. Badbadbad.

This is a pretty poorly written post, I’m realizing. Sorry about that. I promise my next post will be well-written and about kitties or something to make up for this downer post.

I love it! This is stuff people need to know about.

But it always makes me depressed when I hear that the government that I pay money to is just using it to do bad things. I’m not angry at you, America. I’m just disappointed.

Yeah, this Blackwater stuff is bad news. But I feel tripple bad, ’cause I used to watch people play the game “Mercenaries”. See, that whole game is about destabalizing a region and playing suckers off on one another. Bad news bears.

The funniest thing about Iran is that if we’re patient, we’re likely to see regime change from within in about a generation or so. That’s if we’re patient. And intel is correct. And the movement goes to plan. And we don’t make them hate us doubles. Don’t know how it’ll work, but we’re hopin’ to god that it does.
