So as you may know, Katie, Emma and I are taking a digital illustration class. While it is proving to be very helpful learning the ins and outs of photoshop and illustrator, the assignments aren’t that exciting. I’m sure it will pick up the more I get aquainted with the programs. Above is a work-in-progress image of a three panel narrative. In class we chose three different characters that each student had to use in their own narrative. We chose a harpie, a sad monster, and a viking. The trouble is that I feel so limited on the computer, even though the possibilities are endless. I’m a more of a hands-on person because I feel like I have more control over the image. I think I need to start outside the computer more and maybe just use the programs to enhance the image instead of creating the entire image.

In other news, I think I’m going to have a mental breakdown soon. Not only is homework piling up, but it’s getting more difficult for me to feel good about a finished illustration. The last assignment for Illustration 3 I worked on really hard and everyone seemed to think it turned out great. But for some reason I just didn’t feel satisfied with it and I have no idea why. I think I just need to get used to working with this new process that I’m developing. I’ve never really done it before so I hope it just takes some time. I’ll post a picture of it later.

I think I find out if I passed my junior review tomorrow. I’m tired. I can’t wait until this weekend when I can finally sleep in and relax.
