Mobile Suit Tim: The NYC Adventure

Oh-Em-Gee Shambot. It’s been a long last week without you. I’m only now just beginning to catchup with all the shennanagins and goings-on I missed out on. It seems we’ve been quite the little setters of jets, and let me tell you, I HATE MODERN AVIATION. At least for now. Perhaps I’ll tell you more of the actual NYC bits later, but for now, settle for some stories of “FUN WITH NORTHWEST AIRLINES!”

So, to save money on airfare (despite the fact that my ticket is subsidized by the lovely University of Iowa) we almost always fly out of Moline, IL. Roughly an hour east of the IC, it’s a not so bad way to save well over 100 smackers on airfare, as well as build charachter on the journey. No big thing. Easily made it on board, and to our midway point of the journey, Detroit. That’s when things get fun. After sitting on the runway for an hour, the plane turns back “Real quick, just to get some extra fuel, as we may be circuling La Guardia in NY for a while before we’re cleared to land.” No big deal. I like fuel, and with my trusty, dusty DS, adventures can be had for hours on end. No small inconvience is gonna get this perky-puppy down.

45 minutes later, still sitting in our delightful Boeing, I’m thinking something’s up. I know this, because they’ve asked us to deboard the plane, and will get back to us as to when we can get back on. But until such times, we should feel free to grab some food and relax in a more spatious evironment. Ok. Swell.

6 hours later, things are not so swell. Due to a storm, we’re trapped in Detroit, and will not be compensated as an airline cannot be blamed for weather closing an airport.  I am in the middle of a titanic tussle for the middle ground in an advance wars map, and I’m about to turn the tide with my shiny new neo-tank. It walks on legs. Nifty. I’m not on the plane or in NYC. Not so nifty.

Finally boarding and flying out gets us there at arround 11:30 pm.  Have I mentioned the fact that I love New York?
To Be Continued. . .
In other news, I’m also going to join in on Patrick’s Summer Reading List fun.  I’ll be reading:

What is the What by Dave Eggers

Brave New World by Huxley

An assanine amount of “Graphic Novels”

FUN! SUMMER! WOO!
