Extra Super Tuesday!

Wow, last night was a nailbiter! I have to say that I think Obama came off with a slightly better position than Sen. Clinton after last night, especially considering that Obama may have actually won more pledged delegates. I really think counting superdelegates is dumb because they could change their mind at any point and many of them went Clinton when she was the clear frontrunner. Throw in the fact that Obama has been out-fund raising Clinton almost 3-to-1 for the month of January, and it looks like if Obama keeps running as successful and organized of campaign has he has these last few months, he could be the clear favorite after March 4th. Anyways, this is all based of cnn and Dailykos, and Dailykos has a huge Obama bias.
I’m not doing this to brag or anything, in case some of you care where I will be next year UT Austin Physics Department sent me an acceptance letter last night. I have to say the whole thing seems very attractive mainly because it probably the best rated department I will get into, my favorite/smartest teacher from Grinnell is from there, and I have never heard bad things about Austin. Apparently it’s a really great town. Anyways, they are paying for me to go out and check out the school the end of the month and I’m super pumped. I’ll try not to write much more about grad school until I make my final decision. The first school you hear back from is the most exciting though, and I felt like sharing.

Basically, I think the decision will be between U Wisconsin Madison, U Michigan Ann Arbor, and U Texas Austin, assuming I get into all three , and I got into Austin which bodes well as it is harder to do. (UPDATE: I just got an acceptance letter from U Wisconsin today!) If by some mistake in the admissions department I get into MiT or Berkeley I will be in a totally different decision mode. I don’t want to go to a school with a big football program, cause game days are so annoying, but I seemed to pick like the three biggest football programs in the U.S. W.T.F.? Point of the story: Grad School decisions coupled with primary decisions leads to a very nervous Spring semester!

This is your iPod on Meth…

First off, I’d like to wish everyone a happy Bob Marley Day.

Now down to business. You may or may not be aware of this, but with rechargeable batteries you’re supposed to completely deplete and recharge them at least once a month to ensure a long life. The problem I have with this is that if you wait to recharge them until they’re almost dead, then they may just kick out on you when you need them. This is the problem I have with my iPod. To make matters worse, whenever I use it in my car the amp charges it up and so it never gets to even half depletion. Luckily I have devised a solution. I made a video that I can play on my iPod to deplete the battery. The video is 8 hours long, and weighs in at a meager 2MB. Every now and then you can leave the iPod playing when you know you aren’t going to be needing it, and then put it on the charger when it’s dead. It’s a rather boring video, the image only changes every hour, but it’s not meant to be watched. If you want it, you can get it here: (|right click -> Save As…| or however your browser words it) iPodBatteryDrain.mp4.

Have a good week!

work is surprisingly fun!!

So, in my post-graduation state of ‘damaged goods – you break it, you buy it’ I am actually feeling really fantastic about things right now!  some of my projects:

Push Institute –  pushthefuture.org  I made this website! (sorta) – admire for its crazy programing tools that I continue to fix, update and add (try to sign-up for the mailing list on the home page, just try it!!). Still working on making it more attractive.  I am officially the Operations Manager now, I handle all of the systems integration, tech and interns for the office, jeez, its cool!  I also learned how to connect to our office mac-mini from outside of our network.  that was cool too.

MCAD – Scholastics is almost over here, you can see all of the student work up in the concourse gallery.  While we’ve been dealing with our region, I have been doing a lot of testing and help for the national office, which may result in a week trip to NYC in March to work, and possibly more after that, to re-make the system that runs the website (neato!)

Also starting a project here to design a CRM (contact relationship management) system, which will be huge/fantastic/exciting & I will learn a lot!

SES is picking up, have the first few meetings this week.  Haley Bonar will be our Artist for the media section.

So, the last exciting thing is that I’ll be going to London in about 10 days for a little vacation/grad gift/friend visit.  Going to be an adventure with the wrist, but well, I don’t really care, it’s going to rock!

What’s This?!

I know, I know. Two posts in a row, big no no. But I have some important news for an updated Shambie! (more…)
